What We Do
We make candy. Pure, but never simple. Using traditional techniques transformed and updated for a modern market, the confectioners at Sticky Singapore hand-sculpt mouthwatering sugar creations in a live show which is educational, mesmerising, and just plain fun. We have developed our own range of beautiful retail sweets, but our range is constantly evolving and almost infinitely flexible.
We can take your ideas, your thoughts, your feelings, your inspiration, and build it through the heart of your very own candy for just about any purpose. Have a look at the Design Your Own Candy sections to learn more.
And mostly, we make people smile.
Why Sticky Singapore
The driving ethos at Sticky is, and will always be, quality. We are the FIRST and ORIGINAL Australian rock candy store to grace the shores of Singapore in the year 2008. We are also a proud nominee for Spirit of Enterprise 2010.
With more than 11 years of candy-making history in our brand, our confectioners are some of the most experienced and well trained professional candy makers working anywhere in the world today. A special combination of craftsman, entertainer, labourer, sculptor and chef, they need only sugar and water to create some beautiful and highly intricate designs.
Sticky Singapore has consistently been awarded the highest rating by the National Environment Agency for cleanliness and hygiene, as well as for general housekeeping of our premises where our candy is made.
We are proud of what we create, and the entire process is on show.
If quality matters, Sticky has no substitute.
What is Candy? (A brief history of sugar)
8,000 BC: People of New Guinea domesticate sugarcane, the major source of sugar even now
Spread of sugarcane cultivation to southern China, Indochina and India
350 AD: India developed the process of forming sugar crystals
642 AD: Arab invades Persia, discovers sugar
Arab expansion helps propagate the production of sugar globally
1099 AD: First record of sugar in England.
Europe is introduced to sugar when Crusaders returned home talking of “sweet salt”.
1493: Christopher Columbus brings sugarcane seedlings to the Caribbean
Caribbean becomes a major sugarcane plantation and exporter of sugar to Britain
It was the West’s insatiable demand for this “White Gold” that was a major driving force behind the age of discovery, the foundation of European empires, and the expansion of slavery (and waistlines).
In 2001, the transformation of sugar into what we now know as Candy was finally perfected by Sticky in the far-flung colonial outpost of Sydney, Australia. The true refinement of Sugar had begun.
